We're technically right in the middle of winter here in Michigan but you'd barely know it by the weather we've had lately. January 31st recorded temps of 53 degrees! We've had many days in the 30s but quite a few in the 40s as well and almost no snow to speak of. The few times we have gotten any measurable amount of snow, its only lasted a day or two and then melted again.Yesterday was about 40 degrees with clouds and mud. Yup - mud from all the 3-5" of melted snow from the weekend.
Our wonderful little town just north of us hosts a Snowfest every January with snow and ice sculptures and lots of family fun. We weren't sure if we'd make it up there this year - or if we did if there'd be much to see since most of last week hovered just above the freezing point. We got lucky and spent the morning at home on Sunday - Paul did some work while I cleaned the house and hung out with the kids. In those few hours, we had a sudden snow system move through and by the time we headed up to Frankenmuth later that afternoon, we had a beautiful winter wonderland to walk through! (A much better backdrop to the sculptures than dead grass and mud!)
Sarah happened to see an ad for Snowfest that showed Mini-Golf as one of the activities and that girl was on a mission for some Putt Putt! They were all excited to see the big snow sculptures and the beautiful ice sculptures. We had a fun afternoon, walking around, enjoying a beautiful Wintery Michigan day!

Truly a winter wonderland - something nowhere to be found in South Africa
Wow! That is really beautiful! I've only ever seen things like that on TV! :)
Hubby is set on taking the girls on a real sleigh ride (I think you call it...pulled by horses, over the snow)...I'm looking forward to that myself!
I love that Sarah was set on golf! :)
wow! those are awesome! down in the south we don't see very much snow. I would love to live where it snows more, but I love my four seasons in Georgia :)
wow. that is pretty cool.
I love that you have something fun like this to do in the winter.
(our winter has been the same... crazy warm!)
