Say What?!?! Smarty Pants edition!

I'm constantly in amazement in the things my kids are learning these days!!!

Adam and I were playing Scrabble Jr. the other day and I was really impressed with how many letters he knew. He knew about 80% of the letters he played and those that he couldn't name - he was able to identify the sound or a word for it. He picked up a G and he couldn't remember it was a "g" but he did say /guh/ /guh/. He then played the letter A for the word Ape. He looked at the picture next to it then laughed and said "A not for monkey! haha!"

On New Years Day, after staying up until midnight the night before, Jacob and Sarah were told they were supposed to stay in bed until 9am (its usually 8am on weekends but we pushed it back with the late night). I overheard them both in the bathroom around 8:30 am. Sarah checked the clock and said it was 8:31 and asked Jacob what was next. He said "If its 8:31, then it'll be 8:32 next, then soon 8:40, then 8:50, THEN 9:00."

I was letting Adam play around with some of the Apps on my iPad the other day. He was really impressing me with his letter skills again as well as his sorting and understanding of concepts. I told him he was doing a good job and asked him "Where'd you learn so much?" Without missing a beat, he said "At home." Good answer, kid!

Adam made up another story the other day while on our way to school. I forgot to write it down right away so I don't remember all the details, but here's what I recall: There was a monkey, sitting on the table, eating a hot dog with butter. Then he spilled his milk all over the floor because there was a Monster! He scared the monkey. The monster was red and blue and green and yellow. He ripped his shirt. Then he fell and bonked his head....

Where does he come up with all this!?! Love his imagination!!

And to balance out all this 'smarty pants stuff', I have to share a shameful expression from Jacob this week.

He was playing a new card game, "Whack a Mole", when he joked and told his Dad that it was actually called  "Whack a Beaver!"

Poor beavers...they always get a bad rap!

Adam is going to keep you on your toes...I think it has something to do with his smart older siblings!

Whenever I ask my kids where they learned something, they always reply "I don't know" with a shrug...thanks a lot, Crazies.
