Paul was fortunate to be paired with a great roommate when he was in college. He and Carlos lived together all 4 years while at Michigan Tech back in the 1990s. Although they didn't see each other often, they kept in touch after college. Paul stayed in Michigan and Carlos moved to New York. Carlos, who is from Mexico, got married in Puerto Rico and Paul and I were fortunate enough to get to travel to see the wedding and meet his lovely wife, Damaris.
The last time we saw them was about 8 years ago when we visited them in New York (during the weekend of the big Northeastern blackout). Carlos still has family in Michigan but we hadn't had the chance to meet up any time they'd visited in the past few years.
Just before Christmas, I saw Carlos post on Facebook that they'd made it to MI and after a few exchanges, we figured out we'd all be in the same area the day after Christmas! We agreed to meet up somewhere for a short visit. Paul and Carlos got to chat for a while and Damaris and I recapped our holidays. With Facebook and the blog, we didn't have to fill in too many gaps in our lives. Our 6 kids played, along with their cousins and it was really nice to catch up and have a quick visit. I'm so glad we saw that they'd be in the state and we were able to make time for a visit! It was great to see them!!
