Amidst the excitement of Christmas day, there was a taste of bittersweetness, too. As Christmas got closer and closer, the kids remembered that their dear elves and reindeer would have to soon return to the North Pole with Santa Claus. They've only been gone a week and Sarah has already asked several times where they went and that she misses Isabella. They asked me to take pictures of them with their elves and reindeer before they left so they could remember them. Some friends received a dvd of pictures from their elves on New Years so maybe our elves will send a little something for our kiddos soon to help them remember them while they are gone.
Having Elves and a baby reindeer visit us again was such a special treat! The kids looked forward to waking up and finding them each morning - wondering what they did overnight. Adam was great about remembering to feed his reindeer, Dancer - who needed a special diet of nuts and berries - while Jacob and Sarah never forgot to leave out some crackers and water for their elves. They took great care of our guests and they must've done a good job since the elves relayed messages to Santa for some special gifts under the tree.
I'm sure next December will be here before we know it and we'll be making new memories with Kramer, Isabella and Dancer. We appreciated the gifts they brought us and the reminders of what Christmas is all about. Santa even left them a special note (see below) when he stopped in on Christmas Eve and again reminded us why Christmas is so special.
See you next Christmas!

We haven't done the elves with our girls...not sure if we'll think about that next year...but I have had so much fun seeing my friends' elves adventures! So cute that your kiddos are missing them, too! A DVD, or something along those lines, sounds like a really neat idea!
