Family

As a teacher, I often try to come up with art projects that I'd want to see as a parent. Toddler art is so funny sometimes - I love that its creative and open ended and I especially love it right now as Jacob & Sarah are starting to be able to tell me about what they made...but sometimes I have to laugh and appreciate it only the way a mother or teacher could.

I'm accumulating 'favorites' and our kitchen cupboards are becoming quite colorful with some of them. But I have a new All Time Favorite collection now - their own drawings. These are their first self drawn photos - their own ideas, their own scribbles, their own expressions, captured. Their unique drawings are just like them. Sarah is always more elaborate in her coloring and painting. Jacob is often a minimalist.

I love that they drew about their family, too. Its been on my mind a lot lately, especially after I wrote a few weeks ago about our family dynamics. I am constantly trying to take a moment to watch my 3 interact with each other. How fun and silly and smart Jacob and Sarah are. How curious Adam is of them. How they can make him laugh like nobody else. How they are growing faster than I could have ever imagined. Adam is 10 months old today (Friday) and Jacob and Sarah will be 3 in less than two weeks.

I can't wait to see how their drawings of our family will evolve in the years to come. I hope they'll always be colorful and happy and creative - and most importantly - filled with love.

Artwork done my children is just so precious no matter what it is. Love it!

I love the the name of your blog. I have twins too and I call them my twinkies, plus my oldest son. And if I'm referring to all three of them, then they are all my dumplins. LOL Maybe I have a food obsession? ;D

A very good idea, and the drawings are wonderful. It’s such a treat playing this meme with you every week. I have a little something for you today.

Jacob's drawing is just a big group hug, and it seems Sarah's family has a dinosaur... so cute!

Love it when they express themselves.
Just had parent teacher conferences this past week and for my twins, their first ever.... it was fun to see what they have created and to hear the teachers take on them. They are in the same kindergarten class and it is kinda cool that she gets the opportunity to see them interact and learn in the same environment.
Kids do grow WAY faster than we as parents ever could have imagined!
